At the District Conference in early June, club member Angel Chung Cutno shared the stage with Rob Gaudet of Stability. The conversation was facilitated by Randy Feldman and was an opportunity to share about Angel and Rob's disaster relief involvement, as well as encourage Rotarians to sign up for the Stability app in order to be able to respond to our neighbors when disaster strikes.
If you go to the Stability website, you will see that there now is a District 6840 team and then each Club has its own team. We are just getting off the ground, but we want to encourage each Rotary member to enroll with a Club team.
Please note that you do not have to be skilled in Disaster Response to enroll, and it is not essential that you go to a disaster site or do manual labor (if that is something you are unable to do). There will be a need for people to work the phones or help organize. The idea is that when there is a potential disaster approaching or after a disaster strikes in or near our District 6840 territory, we have a system to alert people more quickly of opportunities to serve. Initially, the response will likely be led by the Stability team, but hopefully we can get people trained so Clubs can do it themselves or together with other groups.
