As we end the summer vacation season, we return to the club events and usual efforts of “Doing Good” for the community and our world. Since my last update, I have accepted the duties of Rotary Foundation Chairman. As chair, there are a few items that I want to work to establish. One of them is an active Foundation Committee. several members have already joined and I encourage to be part of the effort.
The District Grants committee has awarded our club three grants with increased amounts over last two years. The grants will assist our local projects: the fall backpack/ school supplies project, the Thanksgiving meals giveaway and additional funding to increase the books donated the library at Warren Easton High School. These funds will assist us in increasing the numbers of recipients and in cooperation with funds donated by NORFI and our members, we can impact more lives.
Once more we are asking members to participate in the Paul Harris wheel program. You can join a wheel by donating $100, $200 or a $250 amount. I will provide forms at the club meetings or you can make a direct donation with Tara at the check-in table. We have been successful in the last year to donate more funds by having more members join the Paul Harris wheel.
Once more if you have Foundation points that you wish to donate, we can put them to good use, just let me know and I will help you transfer them over to another member so they can receive a Paul Harris Award.
