Representative Mandie Landry has been a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives since 2020 (D-New Orleans). Born and raised in Louisiana, she attended the University of Notre Dame and Georgetown University Law School. She has been a practicing attorney for over 20 years.

As a member of the minority Democratic Party in a super majority Republican legislature, she has worked across the aisle to pass sensible legislation, and to educate her colleagues daily on issues important to New Orleans. As some examples, she’s passed legislation to substantially expand maternal health care; won unanimous support on a Crime Victims Bill of Rights, along with the creation of a victim and witness notification system; won bi-partisan support for gun safe credits; passed the first employment protections for medical marijuana patients; won bi-partisan support for consumer friendly insurance protections; and this year, passed legislation requiring disclosure of Ai in political campaigns, expanded tenant protections for victims of stalking, increased good time for incarcerated individuals who earn an associates degree, extended the use of service dogs to victims and witnesses of sexual assault, and for the second year in a row, established protocols for escapees and improper releases from jails and prisons.

Mandie has also helped to secure millions for her district and the city for critical infrastructure projects, and passed a statewide criminal blight statute to hold slumlords accountable for the harm they cause to individuals and communities.
