Jay Hakes
The Future of U.S.Energy

Jay Hakes taught at the University of New Orleans, before leaving for a career in state and federal government.  He has held numerous positions related to energy, including seven years as head of the U.S. Energy Information Administration – the highly respected independent data and analysis arm of the U.S. Department of Energy.  He also served as Director of Research and Policy for the BP Oil Spill Commission.  He has testified on many occasions before congressional committees and advised numerous state and foreign governments on energy matters.  He is the author of the book A Declaration of Energy Independence and, now back in New Orleans and a Rotary member, a frequent contributor to the national websites Real Clear Energy and Real Clear Policy.
