We here at the DOH Neurotrauma Program agree, preventing stroke needs to be everyone’s priority. A study published in 2016 Stroke is Largely Preventable looked at 26,000 people from 32 countries and found that approximately 90% of strokes people experienced could have been prevented. In Hawaii, stroke is the #1 cause of chronic disease and the 3rd leading cause of death. The intention of our presentation and program is to have a lasting impact on people’s health. Our presentation looks at lifestyle habits that affect a person’s stroke risk and during the presentation we ask each participant to evaluate their individual risk by completing a simple worksheet.
