For the first time, District 5000 will be presenting a training session for club board members (both sitting and incoming) this Saturday, February 13 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.  We're fortunate to have Lorraine Davis, COO of the YWCA in Hilo and the current president of the Rotary Club of Hilo Bay, as a guest facilitator.

Lorraine has decades of experience as both a board member and in several leadership positions.  The title of her presentation is Being On the Board – Leadership Beyond Seat Warming. Her presentation will cover the who, what, when, where and why of being on a board.

The training will discuss the expectations of being on the Board and how it is different from being a member.  We'll look at the “why” someone is sitting on the board and challenge the participants to be an active board member and not a seat warmer.  Lorraine will also teach us how to go beyond the seat warming stage to provide the support needed to be a vibrant club.

We will be recording the training and posting it on the District website if you're unable to make it.   But plan to attend to take advantage of the breakout group discussions and the live Q&A exchange.
