Saturday October 24th was World Polio Day and the Rotary Club of Avalon Northeast had a fun way to help eradicate polio. Rotarians, family and friends purchased tickets to watch our Newfoundland Regiment QMJHL hockey team play the Victoriaville Tigres. The Regiment may not have been winners that night; however, children in countries where Polio is still endemic certainly were. Five dollars from each ticket went to the End Polio Now global rotary initiative! A total of 72 tickets were sold along, with cash donations, totalling over $1,620.
