St. John’s, NL – The Rotary Club of Avalon Northeast will host 200 Rotarians and conference participants from across Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Saint Pierre et Miquelon at the Holiday Inn Conference Centre, St. John’s from May 24-27, 2018 for the District 7820 annual conference. The organization of the conference is shared with the other five local Rotary clubs - St. John's, St. John's Northwest, St. John's East, St. John's After Hours and Waterford Valley.
"My wife Pat and I look forward to welcoming Rotary International Presidential Representative Michael Webb, over 200 Rotarians and partners, 18 Interactors (students in Grades 9 – 12) and 13 youth exchange students from around the world to St. John’s and environs. We are particularly excited to engage in discussions related to making a difference in our communities, one’s Rotary club, and within oneself."- Don Sword, District Governor 2017-18 and member of the Rotary Club of Avalon Northeast.
The theme of the 2018 conference is "Join Leaders, Exchange Ideas and Take Action". Topics relating to Rotary and its involvement with peace, the environment, leadership, and planning will be of special focus for guest speakers and participants. Guest speakers will include: Dave Penney, Enactus Memorial, Chief Joseph Boland (RNC), Wali Shah and Kevin Tuerff.
Rotary District 7820 is comprised of 48 Rotary Clubs throughout Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Saint Pierre et Miquelon. The Rotary Club of Avalon Northeast proudly serves the communities of Paradise and Conception Bay South, NL. This is the first time in since 2011 that a District Governor was nominated from Newfoundland and Labrador.
