May 29, 2013 - Meeting Minutes

Missing in Action:

Our songmistress, Kim, led us in a rousing rendition of “Grand Old Flag”

Fines, Happy Bucks, Confessions:
• Cindy had a happy buck for her Grandmother Jones, who celebrated her 101st birthday.
• Kim offered happy bucks for the fishing trip she and Mark took, plus for the help with painting the new fair booth and looking forward to moving stuff back into it on Sunday.
• Gene happy-bucked in honor of Pat and her hard work with the GSE program.
• Dave Read tells us that Mary Courtney’s chemistry class was featured in an article in today’s Democrat & Chronicle for their science project on the International Space Station.
• Richard had a buck for his grandson’s safe arrival in Estonia, where he will begin a 2-year mission.
• Pat had happy bucks for the GSE team, who departed for home on Monday.
• Dianne had a great experience hosting a GSE team member.
• Dick also offered a happy buck for the GSE team’s visit.

Notes and Updates for the Club:
- The Gus Macker Tournament is coming up fast – June 14-16 at the Palmyra Community Center.  We will be operating in our new fair booth for this event.  All shifts have been filled, but feel free to contact Kim if you’d still like to help out.
- Our club change-over picnic will be Wednesday, June 26 at Gravino Park in Macedon.  A sign-up sheet was passed and will be available at the next couple of meetings.
- The district change-over dinner takes place 5:30pm Monday, July 1 at Ventosa Vineyards in Geneva.  The cost for dinner is $45.  Further information and registration are available on the district website, http://www.clubrunner.ca/portal/home.aspx?did=7120
- Sign-up sheets for the Hill Cumorah concessions are being passed.  Each member is asked to fill 4 shifts at the hill this year, if humanly possible.  Remember that you can fill shifts with family members and friends.  Contact Kim to volunteer.
- Program coordinator Bob Ike distributed a calendar for the upcoming Rotary Year, which lists the meeting dates, monthly themes, and indicates which club members are responsible for each date.
- Cindy announced that the cemetery urn project for this year is done.  Members cleaned, painted, and planted urns at the Palmyra Village Cemetery.  Members have signed up to ensure they get watered as needed.

Our assembly auction this week raised $42 toward Polio Plus.

Mila provided t-shirts for all the exchange students at the District Conference last month.  She came up a little short on funds to pay for them, however, so she auctioned off some items she brought from Poland.  Our generous members made up the difference and then some.  Mila donated the extra back to the club.
