What’s New with Sofia?
She had her first exams this week, which went well.  Last week was homecoming week at Pal-Mac, which was so much fun.  She spent the weekend with all the district exchange students at Cal-Mum.  They all had a good time with many fun activities, such as roller skating.

Sofia’s mother had a birthday on September 29.
Pat’s daughter Lea Ann’s birthday was today.

Fines, Happy Bucks and Confessions:
Due to the full program, these were deferred until next week’s meeting.

Notes and Updates for the Club:
- A huge thank you to Bob and Dianne Sloan for all the hard work they put into organizing the parking fundraiser at the Purple Painted Lady’s Barn Sale this past weekend.  Dianne thanked all the volunteers who helped with the parking and especially Bob for the prep work he did to get the field ready.  Thanks to the efforts of those volunteers, we raised $5,753 for our Pal-Mac Rotary Foundation.  This was well above the amount budgeted for this year, which will allow us to finance all our community service projects and possibly add some more.

- President Mark presented a certificate of appreciation to Ruth Wilbur for all her efforts in helping our club.  Some of our newer members might not know Ruth; she is the widow of long-time member Roger Wilbur.  She has always been a big help to our club and continues to help out to this day.  She has worked at the Hill with us; she helps open the fair booth each day; and she was one of our top sellers in the Canaltown Days fundraise.  This year she sold $221 in tickets herself, and together with Joan raised another $100 selling tickets at Breen’s.  The entire club appreciates all Ruth has done for us over the years.  We know Roger would be proud.

- Speaking of Canaltown Days, it should be noted that our top seller this year, again, was Gary Haigh.  He sold $250 worth of tickets, so thanks to Gary!

- A vote was taken to approve a change in leadership within the club.  Due to a career change, Tom Breen is unable to be club president for 2016-2017.  Kim Clement has offered to take over as President-Elect in his place.  No other nominees were offered, and the membership present unanimously approved the change.  Congratulations, Kim!

- The Rotary Leadership Institute has a session coming up on November 7th at the Canandaigua Inn on the Lake.  All courses will be available.  Starting this year, the graduate course will change each year.  So if you’ve taken the graduate course before, this year’s course will cover new things.  Registration is open until November 2nd and can be accessed through the District website.  (Click here.)

- The Rochester Rotary Club will proudly host the 90th annual Eastern Cities Dinner at 4:30pm, Sunday, October 18 at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center.  This year’s keynote speaker is Michael McGovern, Rotary Foundation Trustee and Chair of RI’s Polio Plus committee.  Registration can be done online by clicking here

Thanks to Kim Clement, Maurina Schmidt, Margaret Brooks, and Gary Hopkins for donating items to this month's auction.  Their items raised $64 for the Rotary Foundation.  Congratulation to the winning bidders: Gene Bassage, Bob Sloan, Bob Yost, and Dick Kirchoff.

Congratulations to Sofia for winning $14 in this week’s 50/50 drawing.  She seems to be getting good at this 50/50 thing!

DG Welcome 2015  (to the tune of “Hail, Hail, the Gang’s All Here”)

Hail, hail, Bill Gormont’s here.
He’s the DG this year;
Let’s give him a big cheer.
Hail, hail, Bill Gormont’s here;
We welcome you here with this song.

Hail, hail, for our DG.
He has come here from Greece.
The suburb, not the country!
Hail, hail, our DG’s here
To motivate us all today.

Bill has some awesome skills.
A trick or two up his sleeve,
To show us before he leaves.
Show him our Pal-Mac Pride
And thank him for his work this year!
