Birthdays, Anniversaries:

Shirley’s birthday was yesterday.  (Gene said they went to Captain Jack’s, where they give you a free chicken wing for each year on your birthday.  He said it was quite a sight to see 88 chicken wings come out of the kitchen!)

Fines, Happy Bucks, Confessions:
• Pat offered a happy buck because she won two prizes in our club’s Canaltown Days drawing.
• Peter won in his fantasy football league this week, and added it is a good week to be a Bills fan.
• Dianne had a happy buck for a fun “party on the porch” at Bob Yost’s.  She also told us how Rory sold 378 tickets at our Canaltown Days booth this past weekend.  Bob had promised to buy tickets for Rory if he reached certain sales targets; Rory earned 12 books of tickets for himself.
• Vicky was rightfully proud of our 19 Harbor Hosts, as was the director of the NYS Canal Corporation, who named them Erie Canal Ambassadors during a recent visit.
• Dick was sorry to have missed the Party on the Porch, but offered a happy buck for it anyway.
• Anne and Steve participated in a commemorative walk from the Joseph Smith farm to the Hill Cumorah.  They also attended a presentation in Rochester by Gladys Night.  They told us some friends came to visit and the men took a bike ride along the canal path from Fairport to Genesee Valley Park, where the women picked them up.

Notes and Updates for the Club:
- The club’s annual Canaltown Days drawing was held this past weekend.  We raised just under $1650 through this fundraiser.  The list of winners appears at the end of this report.
- The district’s Eastern Cities Fellowship Dinner will be October 27 at the Riverside Convention Center in Rochester.  The keynote speaker is Rotary Foundation Chair John Kenny.  Tickets are $45 per person until Friday, October 10, $50 per person after the 10th.  To register for the event, you may click here.
- The district is seeking volunteers to act as hosts for the Milt Matthews Governor-Elect Hospitality program, which is January 9-17.  Last year, 18 Governors-Elect from 14 countries participated.  If you are interested in hosting a Governor-Elect, more information is available at the district website.
- Rotary Leadership Institute has sessions available at the Inn on the Lake in Canandaigua Saturday, November 1.  Registration deadline is October 27.  Information and registration is available at the RLI website rlinea.org
- Thanks to the efforts of our club members and their families, along with those from Bloomfield Rotary, Newark Rotary, and Manchester-Shortsville Lions clubs, the Hill Cumorah Pageant concession tent had another successful year.  Each club gets a share of the net proceeds, and Bob Yost of RL Concessions presented a check for $9,250 to our club president, Bob Yost.

- It has become tradition at our club assemblies to hold an auction of donated items to raise money for the Rotary Foundation.  From July through December, all proceeds from the auctions go to the Rotary Foundation’s general fund; January through June, the money raised goes to Polio Plus.  The money is credited in the names of the winning bidder and the donor of the item, with each getting credit for half.  This month’s auction items netted $52 for the Foundation.

Pam dean was the winner of $9 in this week’s 50/05 drawing.  She donated it to Polio Plus.  Thanks, Pam!
