Exchange Student Update:

Our new exchange student from Poland attended her first meeting today.  Welcome, Mila!  She arrived a few weeks ago and is staying with the Cole family in Palmyra.  She has joined the swim team; their first meet is the 20th.

Singing:

In honor of the 9/11 anniversary, and to honor America, we sang our National Anthem.

Birthdays / Anniversaries:

No one got any older this week.

Fines, Happy Bucks, Confessions:

-  Arnie and his grandson went on a 90 mile canoe race.
-  Leslie offered a happy buck to celebrate the completion of the Finger Lakes Triathlon, which is a major fundraiser for the Mary Gooley Hemophilia Center.  This year, there were 1200 racers, along with 300 kids in a youth triathlon.
-  Dave Read’s grandson Teddy was taking his pilot’s test today.  Dave offered up half a happy-buck, with the other half due next week, assuming he passes.
-  Kim Clement had a happy buck in honor of some sort of gathering which took place recently, during which some form of competition took place, in which the girls “ruled.”  Ping-pong, perhaps?
-  Jim Bush explained his absence last week was the result of a hot-water tank failing.  He also told us how he and his wife celebrated their 43rd anniversary at the Olive Garden.  The Clements happened to be there that evening and sent over dessert!
-  Jim had another buck for a fishing trip with the undertakers.
-  Bob Ike had a buck for a great start to the new school year.
-  Bob Yost put in a dollar, saying this would be the only time he was out-fished by Jim.
-  John Denniston offered a “traitor” buck, since he will be playing in the district golf tournament – for Gananda.
-  Bob Sloan says that despite having to re-schedule two youth football tournaments on short notice, all is going well and he’s happy to be involved with the league.
- Anne had an amazing weekend, with her family around.  She attended a concert at Darien Lake, which was a new experience for her, being more used to concerts at CMAC.
-  Tom was happy to see that his Texans won on Sunday.  Also, the closing on his mother’s house.
-  Dave Pray will be seeing Betsy off to England next week.

• The next meeting of our club's Board of Directors will be Thursday, September 20th - 6:30pm at the Goodwill in Macedon.

Due to a conflict, our scheduled speaker was unable to attend today’s meeting.  President Dianne stepped up with and informative and fun presentation – “Who Am I?”  She secretly questioned each Rotarian for a little-known bit of information about them.  Members were then offered the info and had to guess who it was about.  It’s amazing how much we still don’t know about each other, and it was fun finding out.  Thanks, Dianne!

Mila got her year with us off to a good start by winning $14 in the 50/50 drawing.
