This Week in History:
Today is Bald and Free Day.  It’s to honor those with a beautiful shiny top.  You don’t have to be bald to celebrate this day, but it helps.  People who are married to, or related to, a bald-headed person can celebrate with the honoree.   Enough with the bald jokes. There will be zero tolerance for them today.  Rather, today is a day to cherish and appreciate the freedom that comes with being bald.  While the rest of us are spending money on haircuts, hair shampoo, hair sprays, combs, and such, the bald guy is smiling as he is saving money and time.
Upon becoming a lucky bald guy, you are finally freed of the worry and fret that other guys have as they wonder for years:  "Will I lose my hair?" or “Is my hair turning grey?”  Better still, bald guys are much happier.  In addition to saving money on haircuts and hair accessories, they never had a "bad hair day".
So, if you are bald, enjoy your freedom, as you celebrate Bald and Free Day.

Singing:
To honor our country, we sang “America the Beautiful.”

What’s New with Sofia?
Last week, after Rotary she went to cheer practice and sprained her ankle.  So that’s not so fun.  They say it will take 6 to 8 weeks to heal, but Sofia says she is going to get better sooner.  Tuesday she went with the Medinas to see the Disney musical “Newsies” at the Auditorium Theater in Rochester.  It was awesome!  After the show, they had a backstage tour, which was also awesome.

Birthdays and Anniversaries:
Bob’s son Nate is 24 today.
Dave and Cathy Pray’s anniversary was Sept 24.

Fines, Happy Bucks and Confessions:
• Leslie had a happy buck for her 30th college reunion 2 weeks ago.  Several of her friends from college live in the area so they get to see each other often, but this was nice because some friends who live farther away were there as well.
• Dave Stachnik confessed that he went to the Bills game Sunday and behaved badly out of frustration with the Bills.
• Gene and Shirley attended their high school reunion recently (70th and 71st).  Dick Kirchhoff was there, too!
• Dick made a donation to the club, as he was unable to help with the parking project.
• Bob Sloan had a happy buck because he had so many leftovers this week.
• Mark confessed that he and Kim were unable to attend the Sloans’ cottage party on Sunday.  Seems their son came along Sunday morning needing help moving some things.  One thing led to another, and the day was soon used up.
• John Denniston offered a few bucks in honor of his recent move to Farmington.
• Eric and Edie went to the Bills game in Miami with a group, which included a cruise afterwards.  They went to Nassau the day before the hurricane then on to Key West.
• Pam offered a buck in order to promote Gananda Rotary’s Haunted Hayride/Haunted House.  It’s October 9, 10, 16, 17 and 23 at 1485 Walworth-Penfield Road in Walworth.

We were joined today by former Pal-Mac Rotarian and all-around good guy John Denniston.  John plays with the band Eva & the Dog Boys.  He brought some of his mandolins and told us a little about each of them.  He talked about their construction and how that influences their sound.  Much to our delight, he played a little tune on each of them.  We all enjoyed John’s playing and the information he had to offer – it was very entertaining.  Thanks, John!

Gary Haigh won $11 in this week’s 50/50, which he gave to Sofia.
