Fines, Happy Bucks, Confessions:
• Leslie attended a 2-day conference in Boston, which earned her a complimentary 2 night stay to be used in the future.  Murphy’s Law was in full effect.
• Eric got to see the Bills try very hard to lose to the Ravens and fail.
• Kim’s grand-daughter recently turned 2.  Also, she and Mark had a great time with the Australians who were staying with them as part of the recent Rotary Friendship Exchange.  If all goes well, they plan to visit Australia in May when with our district group.
• Richard and Wynnette were sorry to miss us last week.  While they were away, some friends from Los Angeles were here watching their house.  When they returned, it was still standing, so that turned out all right.
• Bob Sloan was happy to say that the Youth Football and Cheer Charity Bowl gave a sneak peek at this year’s results, and they were up as much as 30% over last year.  The Charity Bowl benefits Camp Onseyawa.  Speaking of which, the Camp O Appreciation Dinner will is coming up on the 19th at Bristol Mountain.  And finally, the C team is still undefeated.
• Joan feels bad for all those Steelers fans who are still waiting for a win, but is thankful to the Pirates who are keeping Pittsburgh sports fans out of a funk.

Notes and Updates for the Club:

- Reminder:  October 30 is the new date of DG Ellen Hughes’ official club visit.  Please plan to attend; we always have a good crowd for the DG visit.

- At a previous meeting, a sign-up sheet was passed to gauge interest in polo shirts, aprons, etc.  We now have prices. The cost will be $20 for the polo shirt with our club name and Rotary wheel.  You may have your name embroidered on your shirt for an additional $3.  If you would like to replace your apron or add to your collection of Rotary aprons, these will be available for $16.50.  The sign-up sheet will make the rounds again; please indicate if you are still interested and pay Tom.

- As mentioned above, some of our club members performed parking duties at the Purple Painted Lady barn sale last Saturday.  Their efforts on a soggy, rainy day were not in vain; they raised $1,435.  Great job!

- Naples Rotary Club hosts the annual Camp Onseyawa Appreciation Dinner October 19 at Bristol Mountain Ski Resort in Canandaigua.  There will be chair lift rides from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.   A social hour with music by Big Blue House and complimentary wine and beer and a cash bar starts at 5:00 p.m.  The Meat Carver’s buffet and program will follow at 6:00 p.m.   At 7:00 p.m. the band will return for an evening of music and dancing along with a Silent Auction, Chinese Auction, and Door Prize Giveaways.  They ask that you send your registration by October 10.  You can download a registration form by clicking here.

- Rotary Leadership Institute takes place at the Inn on the Lake in Canandaigua, Saturday, November 2.  Registration form is available at this link.

- The District Foundation Brunch will be held on Sunday Nov. 10th at the Belhurst Castle in Geneva. The cost will be $29 and more details will be available soon.

 - The board of directors has received and approved a membership proposal for Andy Wahl.  Club rules require this to be published in two newsletters, allowing current members the opportunity to make comments to the board.

Our Canaltown Days Shopping Spree was a big success.  The winner, Margaret Hill of Albion had her son-in-law as a pinch-runner.  He filled 4 carts with meat; they had well over the $750 limit.  But, Margaret bought some of the overage anyway, and left with $1,000 worth of meat for which she paid $250.  The shopping spree was exciting and fun and our winner was very happy with her results.
