Fines, Happy Bucks, Confessions:
• Anne happy-bucked for the District Conference, and for Mila’s speech, which was amazing.  You’ll get a chance to hear that speech at our club’s change-over picnic in June.
• Kim pitched in a dollar in honor of Bob Yost’s spectacular somba dancing.  (Bob had a little help from Jib-Jab, a website that lets you put your photo on the faces of animated characters.)
• Leslie tells us the Juliana was voted student of the year.
• Dave Read’s grandson, Dan Courtney, earned his degree.
• Dick Kirchhoff had a buck in honor of V.E. Day.
• Pam’s grandson has been granted a full scholarship to a Division I school (whose name she couldn’t recall at the moment) for basketball.  Also, she and Bill had fun babysitting their 3-year old granddaughter.
•Dianne offered her own happy buck for a great district conference, and also recognized Mila’s speech.

While we’re on the subject of the district conference, it should be noted that our club was recognized for our 92% attendance.  We also won recognition for our work on Literacy projects, thanks in large part to Pam Dean.  District Simplified Grants were awarded also.  There were 36 applications; 34 grants were awarded.  Our club was awarded $1,500 for our project to help with furniture for Rehema Home, the Kenyan orphanage.

Notes and Updates for the Club:
 - The Camp Onseyawa golf tournament takes place June 1.  Cost is $85 per person.  Contact Bob Sloan to arrange for your foursome.  Also available are green and hole sponsorships; cost to sponsor is $250 and $100, respectively.  Again, Bob Sloan is the man to see.
 - The cemetery urn project is getting underway.  Again this year, we are looking for volunteers to help scrape, paint, and plant 5 urns at the Palmyra cemetery.  Cindy Surline passed a sign-up sheet around today.  Contact her if you would like to pitch in on this easy community project.
 - A reminder that there will be no lunch meeting on Wednesday, May 22.  Instead, we will be holding our meeting Thursday evening, May 23 at 6pm.  Our guests that evening will be the GSE team from Sweden/Latvia.
 - Our club change-over picnic will be Wednesday, June 26 at Gravino Park in Macedon.  More details will be announced as we get closer, and a sign-up sheet will be passed.
 - The district change-over dinner takes place 5:30pm Monday, July 1 at Ventosa Vineyards in Geneva.  The cost for dinner is $45.  Further information and registration are available on the district website, http://www.clubrunner.ca/portal/home.aspx?did=7120
 - Our club has volunteered to cook hot dogs for the Macedon Memorial Day parade, May 27.  If you would be interested in helping out, please contact Eric Chapman.

Karen Breen, director of Wayne County Home Meal Service, was on hand today to
receive a donation from our club.  President Dianne was happy to present a check for $500.

Our own Jim Bush gave us a sample of his wit and wisdom today, in an effort to show “How to Be the Coolest Grandparent in the World.”  Jim explained that there are basically three universal forms of communication: music, art, and laughter.  It was this third form that he hoped we would use to convey to our children and grandchildren the love we have for them.

Jim demonstrated his point with some sleight-of-hand and humorous activities.  He reminded us that it is not difficult to share a laugh with kids – silly humor is easy to create.  It was very entertaining for all of us, and if you weren't there, you really missed out.

For his final trick, Jim pulled Mila’s ticket and she won $11 in the 50/50.
