We were joined today by two Rotary Youth Exchange ambassadors, Johanna (Joey) Tesar and Bailey Cole.
Joey was our inbound exchange student from Austria in 2011-2012.  She was 15 when she arrived and has since graduated high school back home.  She took some time after graduation to do volunteer work.  She spent 6 months in Mexico teaching English, and stopped in our area for a month before returning home to Austria.  She will be going to college to study law, possibly international law.
Bailey Cole was our outbound exchange student this past year, and just returned from her 10 month stay in Brazil.  She will tell us all about her time there at a future lunch meeting.  Welcome back, Bailey!

Fines, Happy Bucks and Confessions:
• Bob Sloan offered a “Joey Buck” saying he’s just so happy to have her here.
• Tom Breen confessed that to an early senior moment, having mistakenly assigned Joey’s home country as Germany, not Austria, in the last Crier.  He deeply regrets the error.
• Anne offered a happy buck for having Joey and Bailey back.  Wonderful young people like them make are what make the Youth Exchange program work.
• Eric was happy to spend some time with Tori while she was back in town.  After her stay, they drove her back to Phoenix.
• Tina was sorry to have missed a few meetings recently, but was happy about the reason: she has taken a full time position at Lollypop Farm.
• Brian was happy to back with us again, and tells us his youth baseball team had a great season.
• Kim pitched in a happy buck for Brian and Andy; as soon as they walked in the room, she pounced on them with the Fair Booth sign-up sheets!
• Peter followed up on Brian’s baseball happy buck with one of his own, for the opportunity to coach his son Jonah.  He had another buck for a recent golf outing at Cobblestone Creek, where he had a good round on a great course.
• Joey offered happy bucks for all of us, for being back (“It’s as if I never left.”) and for Bailey.
• Andy offered a buck and apologized for missing some meetings.  He also confessed to missing a shift at the Hill.
• Pam’s son and daughter-in-law visited over the weekend with their daughter.  Pam enjoyed her grandma-time.
• Mark’s Fink Fine this week was for Tim King, who was the subject of the One-on-One interview in the Times.

Vicky Daly has recently resigned from our club due to changes in personal circumstances.  She has been a valued member for years, a friend to all, and she will be missed.  In recognition of her years of service to our club and our community, the club’s Board of Directors has named her an Honorary Rotarian.

Notes and Updates for the Club:
- The District Golf Tournament will be held on Friday, September 4th at the Lima Country Club, with registration at noon and tee-off at 1pm.  Cost is $80 per person, which includes golf, cart, lunch, and dinner.  Deadline to sign up is Tuesday, August 25th.  If you would like to participate, please contact Bob Yost ASAP.

- District 7120 is seeking hospitality hosts for incoming governors-elect.  There are two terms: January 8 – 12 and January 12-16.  They need about 40 hosts (20 for each term).  More information is available at the district website (Clicky).

- Tickets for this year’s Canaltown Day Drawing fundraiser were distributed at today’s meeting.  Each Rotarian/Couple is encouraged to sell 10 books of tickets.  The prizes this year will be: 1st – 48” Smart TV; 2nd – iPad Air Wi-Fi; 3rd - $250 Gift Card from Breen’s; 4th/5th - $100 Gas Card (donated by Community Bank); 6th – Dinner Cruise from Midlakes Erie Navigation; 7th - $100 in NY Lottery scratch-offs; 8th - $50 Gift Certificate from Akropolis Restaurant; and 9th - $50 Gift Certificate from Athenia Restaurant.  If you didn’t get your tickets or need more, contact Tom Breen.

- If you signed up for the Bills game excursion, and have not yet sent your payment to Eric, he asks that you please do so.

- This month’s Assembly Auction raised $49 for the Rotary Foundation.  Thank you to Margaret, Cindy, Cheryl, and Gary Hopkins for donating items to the auction.  Thank you and congratulations to our winning bidders: Brian, Bob Sloan, and Kim.

- Mark and Kim changed things up a little this week when it came time for the 50/50.  Rather than draw a ticket from the jar, all ticket-holders played the “Heads/Tails” game, which Mark and Kim learned about at the Rotary Convention in Sydney.  The winner was Joey, who pocketed $15.
