None this week.

Fines, Happy Bucks, Confessions:

- Mark had kudos to Gary Hopkins for arranging our club’s participation at the Monroe Golf Club Vegas Night, which resulted in a donation of $1,000 to our club.  He also confessed to 3 days at Tug Hill on a father/son weekend with 13 others.
- Kim had a happy buck for a nice weekend to herself.  She also was happy about the success of the dessert fundraiser last week.
- Gary Hopkins’ daughter and her cheer squad took first place.
- Dianne had happy $$$ for the dessert party (thanks Kim and Mark for all your work getting it organized!); for remembering the bell this week; and for having run 5 miles on the dreadmill this morning, which is the longest distance she’s covered since injuring her ankle last year.
- Tom offered a buck in honor of the 50-degree Sunday we just had, got to wash the car, and of course today warmth is just a memory.
- Leslie had a buck for the students we sponsored in the District Vocal Contest, who gave their all, and are anxiously waiting for the results.
- Bob Henderson offered a buck, as he was just “happy to be in Wayne County.”

Notes and Updates for the Club:

• Pamphlets have been made up for use in promoting our club to prospective members or donors.  Some were available on the tables today, and will be available at future meetings.  The pamphlets list some of our club’s activities, as well as some of our contributions to the community.
• We received a note from District 7490 (NJ), thanking us for our donation to the Sandy relief efforts there.  From our Rotary District, more than $10,000 was donated to the Red Cross, and over $12,000 was sent to District 7490 for distribution through its various clubs and programs.  In addition, almost $11,000 in goods and materials were received.
• As mentioned above, members of our club acted as dealers at the Monroe Golf Club Vegas Night.  The Monroe Golf Club donated $1,000 to our club by way of thanks.  Our board of directors has decided to hold this money in reserve for the new Fair Booth, for furnishing interior items and equipment.
• Our 3rd annual Murder Mystery Dinner takes place February 16 at the VFW.  If you would like tickets to sell to friends and family, please contact Gary Hopkins.  He has tickets with him almost all the time.  Also, tickets can be purchased at the service desk at Breen’s in Palmyra.  Proceeds from this event go to Camp ONSEYAWA.
• Valentine’s Day balloon activities at the Wayne County Nursing Home are being organized by Bob Yost. Please contact him if you’re able to help out.
• The district spelling bee is on February 23 at Wayne Central School.  Again this year, Pat VerPlank is sponsoring our club’s team of Kim, Leslie and Tom.  Our club is sponsoring the Interact team, the “Miss-Spellers.”  Joan Shaffer is passing a sign-up for anyone who would like to purchase a patron ad for $10.
• District Assembly will be April 13 at Red Jacket High School.  All interested Rotarians are encouraged to attend and learn more about the various programs and activities available through our Rotary district.  There is no charge to members for attending.
• Any Rotarians who were unable to attend the Dessert Fundraiser are asked to contribute $5 for their share of the "Every Rotarian, Every Year" pledge.

Peter Brown and Don Henderson of the Pittsford Rotary Club spoke to us today about the upcoming District Conference.  This year’s conference will be held at the Crown Plaza Resort in Lake Placid.  Information about reservations, activities, etc is available on the district website (clicky).  Early registrants or first-time attendees can get a $25 discount off the Conference registration fee.

Mark Clement won $10 in today’s 50/50 drawing and donated it to the Fair Booth fund.
