Fines, Happy Bucks, Confessions:
• President Pam confessed to leaving Eloise the Moose at Parkwood after the Christmas Party, but the Clements brought Eloise home with them for the holidays.
• Bill and Pam took a vacation trip to Florida for the holidays.  Bill had a happy buck because they returned during the day on New Year’s Eve, avoiding all the weather delays and cancellations.
• Nancy went to Wisconsin for Christmas.  Arrived in Chicago and discovered their next flight was cancelled.  So, they managed to catch a bus, which broke down after about an hour.  They did eventually make it to Wisconsin though.
• Jim Murray had a happy buck in honor of the Pal-Mac swim team being undefeated.
• Margaret took a trip to New Hope, PA to visit family.
• Wynnette offered a sad buck, as this was the last PM Rotary meeting for her and Richard.  Their mission over, they are on their way back to California.  Safe travels, friends; you will be missed.
• Peter gave a happy buck because he again has season tickets for Rochester Razorsharks basketball.

Notes and Updates for the Club:
- Secretary Joan would like to remind the club that if you have make-ups, please e-mail her to let her know.  The first half of the Rotary year is over, and reporting to RI is due.
- The annual Wayne County Rotary Spelling Bee to benefit Literacy Volunteers is February 1.  Once again this year, Pat VerPlank is generously sponsoring our club’s team.  The Interact club may also be sending a team this year.
- Saturday, January 18, the Interact club and Pal-Mac SADD (Students Against Drunk Driving) are teaming up for a pancake breakfast at the Palmyra Fire Hall.
- The annual Murder Mystery dinner is January 25 at the VFW in Palmyra.  Tickets are available for purchase at the service desk at Breen’s or from Gary Hopkins.  Tell your friends!

Our 50/50 winner this week was Ray Warrick, who contributed his winnings back to Polio Plus.

Marion Town Historian Carolyn Adriannsen was with us today to talk about cobblestones.  Mrs. Adriaansen’s presented a great deal of information about the cobblestone era and how buildings were constructed.  Ninety percent of America’s cobblestone structures are within 75 miles of Rochester.  The period from 1825-1860 is considered to be the main cobblestone era.  The abundance of stones and the availability of cheap labor contributed to the proliferation of cobblestone structures, until the widespread use of steam power in the 1860’s and beyond made other construction methods more affordable.  Mrs. Adriaansen brought many visual aids and charmed us all with her knowledge and enthusiasm for the topic.  We thank her for her visit.
