Notes and Updates for the Club:
- Secretary Joan would like to remind the club that if you have make-ups, please e-mail her to let her know.  The first half of the Rotary year is over, and reporting to RI is due.
- The annual Wayne County Rotary Spelling Bee to benefit Literacy Volunteers is February 1.  Once again this year, Pat VerPlank is generously sponsoring our club’s team.  The Interact club was unable to field a team this year.
- Once again this year members of our club will be passing out Valentines to resident at the Wayne County Nursing Home.  If you would like to be one of those members, Bob Yost would love to hear from you.  Valentine’s Day is Friday, February 14.
- The following are proposed Club Officers for the Rotary Year 2014-2015:  President – Bob Yost, President-Elect – Mark Clement, Vice-President – Tom Breen, Secretary – Joan Shaffer, Treasurer – Margaret Brooks, Sergeant-At-Arms – Gary Hopkins.  Club members will be asked to vote whether to approve this slate at the Club Assembly on January 29.
- There will also be openings for three members of the board of directors, who would serve in that capacity for two years.  If you are interested in being a board member or would like to recommend someone, please contact Bob Yost.

Our 50/50 winner this week was Vicky Daly, who donated her winnings to Polio Plus.

Our speaker today was Szabolcs Zsudel (aka Szabi), our very own exchange student from Hungary.  He presented a slideshow and some interesting and fun facts about his home country.  He also invited Joe Juhasz, who lived in Hungary until the  40’s, to share his experience of that time.
