Check presentations were made from 2 projects: Hill Cumorah (R-L Concessions), under the management of Bob Yost (far R.)  and the Purple Painted Lady Parking Project, headed by  Dianne and Bob Sloan, here flanking Gary Hopkins during the check presentations.  Details below.

Exchange Student Julia Bos reports on her weekly adventuresand word of the week: "Exchange student" - Uitwisselingsstudent.  Sounds like "Outwhistleingstudent."

Guests:  Sara Roback, guest of Dave Stachnik

Birthdays Bob Ike's son had a birthday last week; Julia's host "sister" has a birthday tomorrow.

The two main project reports were given by Bob Yost on behalf of the R-L Concessions results at Hill Cumorah and Bob & Dianne Sloan reporting on the one-day event at the Purple Painted Lady festival made possible by Tricia Kuntz.

Hill Cumorah is well known as a massive organizational effort for RL (Rotary-Lions) Concessions and Bob elaborated on some of the changes this year, including a complete re-charge of the church leaders' team, which is unusual.  Normally, the transition affects an individual or two on any given year.  Rarely has the whole team changed in the same year.  The familiarization process is thereby more demanding, but Bob is confident that it will remain harmonious and effective.  Our Club profit amounted to $6,411.51, with an equal amount shared by each of the other clubs involved.  Bob received a suitable ovation for his management efforts.

Newer to our club is the Purple Painted Lady Sale, a one-day "Barn Sale Junk Jubilee", as owner-organizer Tricia Kuntz calls it.   A festival, by most standards, growing ever more popular every year for six years, now.  This link: https://www.thepurplepaintedlady.com/2016/09/ should take you to the home page, where you can find a video that shows incredible aerial footage of the grounds, layout, parking, and vendor's spaces.  Or just Google "Purple Painted Lady", and you'll find it easily enough.  The point is this is a huge win-win effort for a lot of people, and our club can be proud (and grateful) for the Sloan connection, which got us involved as the official car parkers.  Nobody got an exact count of the total cars parked, but our proceeds, after expenses, were $8,760.00, according to Dianne.  Stay tuned and psyched up for an even bigger event next year, with a much larger club commitment likely.  A rousing Rotary cheer for the Sloans and all their many hard-working car parkers.  Well done, one and all!

Superintendent Bob Ike gave us a heads-up about his ongoing efforts to instill a proper, respectful attitude about the National Anthem - and how important it is for our students to understand Pal-Mac's expectations at times of its playing.  Bob has invited Channel 10's Berkeley Brean to come to Pal-Mac this Friday for Homecoming  -  to see firsthand and perhaps report on appropriately - the attitude exhibited  by our students and families at such times. Kudos, Bob!  Stay the course!

June Hamel, Library Assistant & Historian at Macedon Public Library, paid a visit on behalf of Stacey Wicksall, Director, with a "Portable mini-library", which is available for businesses or other organizations to use as a way for customers (or employees) to borrow books and other materials from the library.  With so few members in attendance, we invited her to return on a more lucrative date for promoting the idea, which was met very positively by today's group.
