AG Kevin Mooney introduced DG Mike Slovak from the Bath Club and noted many of Mike’s Rotary positions and awards.
Mike played a video of RI President Barry Ressin and noted that Barry will be at the Eastern Cities Dinner on October 28th.  President Ressin’s focus is on clubs taking care of their own members.  We need to inspire each other to want to do more for the worlds.   This this year’s Rotary theme “Be the Inspiration”.
Mike also spoke about the Rotary Vision Statement-Together we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change-across the globe, in our communities and in ourselves.  We need to be doers, not just thinkers and ensure sustainability in our projects around the world, and to help others understand the value of being a Rotarian.
DG Mike also discussed his goals for this Rotary year, they include:
  • Increasing member global perspective
  • Increase Foundation Giving, (Mike noted that there was 30 cents in front of every person present.  This represents how much it costs daily for a member to donate $109 per year to the Rotary Foundation.) Rotarians can go to Rotary.Org and click on Rotary Direct to donate monthly to the Foundation.
  • Increase Support for Clubs-Mike will have a monthly on-line Q and A for club Presidents.
  • Increase personal and professional development through more webinars.
  • Improve and increase communication-cleaning up district web site and getting more members to opt in for district e-mails
  • Increase development of strategic plans
