President Kim introduced this week's speaker, David Koeberle, with an appropriate song she had written for the occasion. For those who don't know him, Dave is a native and lifelong resident of Palmyra and the owner and president of Reynolds Auction Company, headquartered on Canandaigua Road in Palmyra. To get the Rotary connection, you may know that both Kim and Mark Clement have been working in the business part time in retirement.

Dave provided members with an entertaining and informative look at the business, which includes a wide variety of services in addition to such traditional venues as estate sales and farm and business liquidations. “It's a lot more than furniture,” he said. “Everyday brings something different!”

Although Dave grew up on the family dairy farm, he decided early on that he “didn't want to be married to cows!”, so he turned to doing landscaping jobs at age 18. He graduated from SUNY at Cobleskill with a degree in Landscape Development and ran his local landscaping business for several years. He later developed an interest in auctioneering, and in 1996 attended the renowned Missouri Auction School to learn the fine points of the art. “There's a lot more to it than just fast talking,” he quipped.

He then worked for a number of years with well known auctioneer John T. Reyonolds, and eventually bought the business from John in 2008. If you would like to know more about Dave and his company, log onto the award winning web site www.reynoldsauction.com
