Exchange Student Update:
Our new inbound student, Melina was expected today, but she had swim practice and was unable to attend.  Next meeting will be the first day of school, so no Melina then, either; but watch for her on the 12th!

Birthdays / Anniversaries:
Cortney had an insignificant birthday on Saturday, and Pam had a birthday on Friday.  (She claims that all her birthdays are significant!)

Fines, Happy Bucks, Confessions:

- Cortney has added a new kitten to her menagerie, and is planning a vacation to New Jersey.
- Arnie spent half a week fishing at the cottage.  During that outing, Joy saw her first-ever moose.
- Young Rory Sloan was proud to announce his first sack of a quarterback.  Proud father and coach Bob Sloan, naturally, matched that happy buck.
- Pam was happy to report that her family had no issues from Isaac.
- Eric “delivered a kid to Potsdam” and also purchased a new, smaller RV.
- Joan offered happy bucks for her trip to the Bills game, with thanks to:
          Eric for the tickets,
the weatherman for the nice weather,
          and the Steelers, for winning.
- Terri Hopkins pitched in a happy buck because Gary had the day off.  And he was going to spend it painting the garage.
- Bob Sloan and Dianne took the “Sloanlings” to their first Bills game.
- Richard was happy to see his kids before their move to Korea.
- Dick Kirchhoff announced that his surgeon has given him the all-clear.
- Gene tells us that the Yankees have released Bill Dean and Bob Yost, now that their other pitchers are back in form.
- Tom confessed to a late newsletter.  Did you notice?

The Searles’ have turned in their “ABC’s of Rotary” books, and the signatures have been tallied.
The following Rotarians failed to sign Richard’s book, and are fined $2.00:  Margaret Brooks, Vicky Daly, John Denniston, Chase Ellsworth, Gary Haigh, Debbie LeMoyne, Dave Nagle, Arnie Pechler, Dave Pray, Leslie Vecchiotti, Roger Wilbur, and Bob Yost.

Notes and Updates for the Club:

• A clarification regarding this year’s Fair Booth sales.  Sales this year were up $1,400 over last year, and were up $90 over the previous high.  All invoices have not been tallied yet, so the net is still to be determined.
• District Golf Tournament is coming up on September 14th.  We have a fearsome foursome registered; if anyone would like to get another foursome together, please contact Eric.
• President Dianne reminds us that Dues are due.  If you have any questions, please contact Tom.
• Rotary Leadership Institute will be held November 3rd at the Canandaigua Inn on the Lake.
• Preliminary numbers from the Charity Bowl show that the Pal-Mac venue, which is one of four venues, and the largest, raised over $2,000 for Camp ONSEYAWA.  Thanks to the Youth Football and Cheerleading people for this fundraiser.
• Canaltown Days is September 15 and 16.  Deb LeMoyne is passing around a sign-up sheet, asking people to come help out at our booth those days.  Also, we are selling tickets at Breen’s the first two weekends of September, so please sign up for those days as well.
• At their recent meeting, our Board of Directors decided to donate $300 to the Jim Handville transplant fund.  Also approved was a donation of $100 to Macedon Village Pride for the Butterfly Trail project.  The District has decided to return a portion of the dues it collected back to the clubs.  The board decided to put the money back into the club’s funds.
• The next Group Study Exchange (GSE) will be to Switzerland and Latvia in 2013.  For more information, please visit Rotary.org and select Service and Fellowship - GSE program (direct link).
• Deb has sent email to some members informing them of their responsibility for scheduling a program for upcoming meetings.  Please check your email and let her know your status.

Assembly Auction:
(Our assembly auctions have raised just over $100 so far this Rotary year.)
- Cortney won the bidding on tickets to the Rochester Museum and Science Center.
- Bob Sloan, who also served as auctioneer today, won the bidding on a watch.
- Joan ate up the competition with her bid on a chocolate-pecan pie.
