Due to the Independence Day weekend, the Club Assembly originally scheduled for Wednesday, July 5th and the Committee Meetings Day set for Wednesday, July 12th have each been pushed back one week.
Indications are that few Rotarians will be available for the Club Assembly on July 5th; so that event will instead be held the following week on Wednesday, July 12th. Rotary International requires each club to hold an assembly at least once a year, for planning purposes; others will be scheduled throughout the coming year.
The July 5th meeting is still scheduled to go on as planned.
Consequently, the Committee Meetings Day will be pushed back a week to Wednesday, July 19th. Committees will be encouraged to meet at that time to begin planning their various projects; similar opportunities will be offered at meetings throughout the year, so that committees can meet without having to take time outside of Rotary meetings.
Your last chance to sign up for this year’s Sycamore Rotary Golf Outing on June 28th is at this Wednesday's meeting.
There are tee times still available; the fee is $38 unless you are a season pass holder at Sycamore Park District Golf Club, in which case you pay $16.
Lunch is at Noon, during the Make-up Session at the Club House: $10
Steak Dinner will be served after the last foursome --around 5:30pm--at the Club House: $25
If you sign up for golf you get lunch; if you prefer not to golf, but want to come for lunch or dinner, there are separate sign-up sheets for each of those. Guests are always welcome.
And if you want to boost your attendance, remember: each event counts as a make-up, so you can get three in one day.
Chase Goodeill has been operating his own business in Dixon for the past few years, but decided to relocate to Sycamore in April of 2016...because his wife works in the area, and his job kept bringing him here.
Chase is the operator of Pest Control Consultants, which provides extermination services for homes, businesses and other commercial locations. He started it up after working for Orkin for several years; he's a native of Dixon, and members of his family are investors and/or employees of the firm.
Outside of work, he has coached basketball at locations including Sterling Christian, Amboy and Dixon H.S. He is now coaching at Cornerstone Christian Academy, where his children attend.
Chase says he was interested in joining Rotary because he wanted to get to know business people in the area, and in order to have the opportunity to give back to the community.
Rotarians Keith and Moluie Graham from the Rotary Club of Antigua Sundown were our guests at the June 14th Rotary meeting. They were in town to visit their son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Michelle; both couples are members of the Salvation Army, and the younger Grahams are with the DeKalb County Corps.
The Grahams mentioned some of the projects their own Rotary Club has done; the Club works with autistic children, providing donations to two local schools and to a tennis program for children with intellectual disabilities. They also operated a Pediatric Village, preparing children for the school year by providing free health screenings.
