Club Committee Meeting Day will be held on Wednesday, January 31st; in lieu of a regular meeting, all committees with projects coming up during the next quarter of the Rotary year will have the opportunity to meet and work on details of their events -- putting club time to use, instead of having to meet via e-mail or after a regular meeting.
Upcoming projects would include the February and March program committees, Rural-Urban Day, the District Conference on April 27-28 at Faranda's, Hula-for-Loota and Rotarians at Work Day. Others may be added, as required.
An organizational meeting for a Sycamore Rotary satellite club at Oak Crest Retirement Home will be held on Thursday, February 1st; it will be at 3 o'clock in the first floor Gathering Place room (use Door 4 on the west side of Oak Crest's main building).
Barry Schrader has been working to establish the new offshoot Rotary Club; he already has about 20 potential members lined up to participate, and more are always being sought.

Chad Jewett was the type of kid who liked to take things apart to see how they worked, and then try to put them back together. In his case, the items he liked to work on were computers -- something his parents didn't always appreciate, until he began to look at them as a potential career.
While attending Sycamore High School, he also went to the Kishwaukee Education Consortium out at Kishwaukee College, where he studied...building trades, not computers. But eventually, the latest tech took over his career plans, and he went into business for himself.
CMJ Technologies provides IT support, hardware and cloud services; they also provide monitoring and maintenance for their various clients. He says he works to give his clients the most up-to-date technology available, to make what they have on hand adapt to changes in tech and the marketplace, and to ensure that it remains operational under all circumstances.
Beata Palasiewicz was formally installed as a member of the Sycamore Rotary Club at our January 24th meeting; she joins us under the classification Insurance Agent, working with Resource Insurance on Bethany Road in Sycamore.
Please welcome Beata to our Club; we look forward to getting to know her, and to giving her the opportunity to get fully involved in Rotary.
The Sycamore Rotary Club's annual Hula-for-Loota draw-down raffle will be held on Thursday, April 19th; it will be from 6:30 to 9:00 at Chapel in the Pines, located at 15165 Quigley Road.
This annual evening of fun and furious negotiating will include dinner, cash bar, raffles, prizes and our featured drawing; there will be plenty of giveaways throughout the evening, so even if you're eliminated...you can still win!
Tickets will go on sale soon; all proceeds will go to the Rotary Club's scholarship fund.
As a reminder, the club is collecting your Rotarian Magazines (after you read them of course) to hand out to guests and others in order to share information about the great things Rotary does around the world.
If you have any spares, please bring them to one of our meetings and put them in the box by the badges.
