The new Rotary year will commence with two special meetings:
Our Club Assembly will be on Wednesday, July 12th; this will include an open discussion of goals and plans for this year, and our club's overall direction.
Then on Wednesday, July 19th we will set aside meeting time for club committees; assignments will be handed out by then, and any committee needing discussion time can do so during this meeting...instead of having to take up time afterwards.
Similar opportunities will be provided throughout the year.
As is customary, the Sycamore Rotary Club will be collecting donations for the annual Country Music Show school supply concert in DeKalb.
Rotarians are asked to bring supplies such as writing paper, notebooks, pencils, pens, crayons, glue, rulers, backpacks and other school items to the July 12th Rotary Club meeting.
These items will be donated during the ninth annual show, to be held on Sunday, July 16th at the Taylor Street Plaza High-rise at 507 East Taylor Street in DeKalb.

Steve Kuhn (left) and Eric Jones (right) were officially sworn in on Sunday, June 25th as District Governor and Club President, respectively, at a combined Installation Brunch at Faranda's in downtown DeKalb.
Steve received the oath from outgoing District Governor Scott Shore, while Eric was sworn by Sue Emberson as she completes her term as President. Eric was also presented with the Home Club banner, denoting Sycamore as the home of the current District Governor; it will be displayed at all Rotary meetings throughout the coming year.
Sycamore Rotarian Brian Adams has been named the recipient of the 2016-2017 John W. Ovitz, Jr. Rotarian of the Year Award. He was officially presented with the award during the Installation Brunch on Sunday, June 25th at Faranda's in downtown DeKalb.
This award is named in honor of Dr. John Ovitz, who was the longest-serving Rotarian in the club's history.
Brian becomes the first two-time recipient of the award, as a recent rules change makes previous winners eligible after five years.
Musician Andy Grammer will be the headline performer at the inaugural Answers4SUDC fundraising concert, to be held on Saturday, September 9th at RiverEdge Park in Aurora.
This is the continuation of "Answers for Emmett" launched by Rotarian Jeff Frank in honor of his son; for information on tickets to this concert, go to www.ANSWERS4SUDC.com or contact info@ANSWERS4SUDC.com
