People of Action open house is an opportunity for current, new and potential Rotary members, as well as the community as a whole, to learn about local Rotary clubs and the programs and projects they support.

The event will showcase many of the programs and allow participants to see, touch, talk to and hear from Rotarians about:

  • 3rd World Toilets - Local Rotarians most recently installed these no/low water toilets in Costa Rica.
  • Shelter Box - These boxes are deployed in disaster areas around the world. The boxes contain tents, cooking equipment and other items needed to maintain safety and health after a disaster.
  • Water Straws - Clean water is one of Rotary's 6 areas of focus.  These straws have been dispersed in areas that do not have ready access to clean water.
  • Polio - Rotarians around the world are dedicated to the eradication of Polio through immunizations and surveillance.
  • RYLA - Rotary Youth Leadership Awards is a weekend leadership camp for 9-12 graders held at Lorado Taft Campus in Lowden State Park
  • Rotary Youth Exchange - The Long-term and Short-term Rotary Exchange programs provide opportunities for 16-18 year old students explore the world and build world peace through cultural immersion
  • Rockford Rotary Academy - This is a year long leadership program for 8th graders in RPS 205.
  • Interact - This is high school based Rotary Club providing students with opportunities to participate in local and global service projects.
