Starfish program

Starfish Packs are backpacks of non-perishable food (2 breakfasts, lunches, dinners and snacks) and 3 pieces of fruit that go home with kids from school on Fridays. The children in the program are selected by the school based on need. Many of the children have almost no food to eat on the weekend. During the week they have the benefit of breakfast and lunch programs at schools.

In the last 2 months we have received some publicity for this program, particularly after Alya Ramadan (CBC Kelowna morning show) did a story on it. Someone from Penticton heard the story and contacted us about starting a program in Penticton, that is how your club got contacted.

The Kal Rotary club has not spent a single dollar to get this program going. It is community-supported.
