Linda Worden

Linda is a local student (graduated in 2016 from Pen-Hi ) who has studied at the University of Oxford in the “Williams-Exeter Program” over the past two years. She will be back at Williams College (Victoria ), in search of her BA in Political Economy, Class of 2019.

She is going to be applying for a bursary in the Global Grants Program that Rotary International offers.

Linda Worden was raised by her grandmother in Penticton and committed her time at Penticton Secondary to community service, the debate team and academic success. Linda won a full scholarship in 11th grade to attend Lester B. Pearson United World College, where she lived and studied with students from 80 different countries for two years.

Inspired at Pearson to work on social problems on a global scale, Linda followed a scholarship to Williams College in Massachusetts to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Political Economy. Since starting her bachelor’s degree, Linda has worked or studied in cities like Shanghai, New York, and London. Her academic and personal passion is housing and community development policy.

Nearly done with her bachelor’s degree, Linda aspires to pursue a master’s degree in Comparative Social Policy at the University of Oxford or at the London School of Economics.

Since her dreams to tackle the global housing affordability crisis align with the mission of Rotary International, she is currently looking for the Penticton Rotary Club’s support for a Global Grant.
