This year’s theme was “Imagine an Even Greater Impact with a Stronger Rotary Foundation”. With DG Dr. Dayle Quigley welcome, DGE Patricia McCleese’s reflections and a delegation of 13-strong from Rochester’s 3 clubs represented, the four-hour event was very transformative and compelling on why we should be proud to be Rotarians and related to our extended Rotary family.
A few highlights specific to our Rochester delegation were showcased by:
1. DGE Patricia McCleese’s sharing the impact of Rotary through – a) many small acts of making peace visible, b) changing the way we re-cycle plastics into repurposed products, c) our 3-club Grants team leveraging local funds to over $400,000 to support doing more good in communities around the world, and d) connecting mentors and young professionals to broader cross-sector leaders and exchange programs.
2. Exchange students, Edgar Botello-Hernandez and Mariana Gonzales, enjoyed meeting Dr. Quigley and many others at the event, enriching the goals of experiencing
Rotary as a truly collaborative organization seeking to welcome, engage, and partner with all generations of servant leaders and lifelong service learners striving to apply the 4-way test (and positively respond to Q5, Is it fun?!).
3. We were very grateful to our designated and freely volunteering van escort and co-navigators, Dick Rosener as well as Joanne Rosener and Elaine Case. Extra gratitude to Don Fell who helped coordinate and subsidize the rental from Kuehn motors.
4. Finally, this special expedition, reaffirmed one of many ways that our collective impact via dues, member engagement, small acts of glocal community service, and longer term dedication to multiple public-private partnerships is not only possible within our lifetimes, but can make a difference for millions of lives wherever caring Rotarians (and Minnesotans) choose to plant their seeds and blossom/share their gifts.
