Rotary After Hours 10.1.2020
Register today to join fellow Rotarians and friends of Rotary for our October 1 Rotary After Hours this Thursday, 5:30 - 6:30 pm. There are two opportunities for small groups of eight.

In an effort to reduce the possible spread of COVID-19, attendees are asked to provide their own food and/or beverage, if desired.

Register here for Rotary After Hours with physical distancing at  Quarry Hill Nature Center, hosted by Pam Meyer. Attendees should meet directly in front of the Nature Center. Please dress for the weather and wear shoes suitable for a short walk from the Nature Center to the new Prairie House. The trail is combination of pavement, woodchips and mowed grass and is relatively flat.  It’s only about a 6 minute walk.

Register here for Rotary After Hours Toy Sorting at Salvation Army (120 First Street NE). Attendees will physical distance while sorting toys in preparation for this year's Salvation Army Toys for Tots event.
Volunteer Painters Needed!
Shared again from a previous submission. Today is the last time to volunteer.

April Sutor, Family Services Rochester, has scheduled four dates, beginning today, when Rotary volunteers are needed to help paint a house.... Dates, times and details follow.

If you like exterior painting (or are willing to learn)...and you can free up some time on one or more of these dates, just show up with a paint brush.  Thanks!

From April...

Here are some times and dates to share with the club for painting. Right now the forecast is 77 and sunny! People could come for part or all of the time. I will be there most days and FSR will always have someone there to take care of any consumer questions, materials, etc. If people have a favorite paint brush it would be good to bring as we probably don’t have enough for a group. The house has been power washed, bushes trimmed so should be ready to go.  ...Address is 1208 4th Ave SE.

An Invitation from Toastmasters
Rochester Technology Campus Toastmasters Club
2020 Open Toastmaster Webinar featuring
Rochester Mayor Kim Norton
Thursday, October 1st
11:30 am - 12:30 pm

Click Here for Virtual Meeting Registration!

Mayor Norton will address the challenges
and opportunities of leading the community during the covid-19 pandemic and facilitating
racial/social justice.

After Mayor Norton speaks, two Toastmasters will conduct an abridged and brief Toastmasters
meeting: speaker and evaluator. This will give the audience a terrific opportunity to observe
Toastmasters in action.

Please be our guest! Attendance prizes will be awarded!

EOS Salud y Gratitude Virtual Event
I would like to personally invite...Rotary members to the EOS Salud y Gratitude Virtual Event on Thursday, October 1st from 7:00-8:00 CDT that we are hosting. This event will be our biggest gathering ever of EOS supporters and staff from around the world and a first for EOS. We would like an opportunity to bring all of our supporters connect with EOS and Nicaraguan and Honduras staff as they share their stories about their work in the field in the comfort of your own living room. We would love for you to invite your family and friends to experience this event with you and meet some of our staff. We have created fun Nicaraguan themed Zoom backgrounds (or would love for  you to share your own background). This will be the first time ever that we are able connect you and all of our supporters with our team in country.  After the event ends we would love for you and to join together in a private happy hour in your own private Zoom Breakout room where we can catch up with each other and Nicaraguan staff to continue the celebration.

Please join us October 1st from 7:00-8:00pm EOS Event webpage -  Salud & Gratitude Event and - Event Registration

Hope to see you at our virtual event!

Water Bottles for Salvation Army Day Center
The Rotary Club of Rochester is collecting cases of bottled water for distribution to community members at the Rochester Salvation Army Drop-in Day Center. The next collection will take place  October 8, 11 am - 1 pm during our Midday Meeting at Rochester Golf & Country Club in the lobby outside the meeting space.
SCRIP Available for Purchase
Scrip cards to Apollo Liquor, Kwik Trip, and Menards are still available for purchase to support The Rotary Club of Rochester. Remember, you purchase and spend the cards at face value, and the club receives 5% back from Apollo Liquor and Kwik Trip, and 4% back from Menards. The club gets an additional 5% on purchases at Kwik Trip, other than gas, inside the store.

If you would like to make a scrip purchase, please email the Rotary office with your request. Apollo is sold in $10 increments, and no change is given in store. Kwik Trip may be purchased in increments of $5 up to $25, increments of $25 up to $100, and then $200, $250, and $500. Credit remains on the card until the full value is spent. Menards cards may be purchased in any denomination between $10 and $2000 with the credit remaining on the card, as well. Apollo and Kwik Trip cards will be delivered within a few days, and Menards cards may take up to two weeks. Scrip cards make especially great gifts for celebrations, including birthdays and graduations!

Separate from the Scrip program but another way to support Rotary is Amazon Smile. If you are already shopping on Amazon, please consider shopping Amazon Smile instead. Same items are available, but if you designate The Rotary Club of Rochester Foundation as your organization of choice, Amazon donates a portion of your purchase to RCRF. Thank you for your support!
