Two additional Rotarians are still needed to assist in serving lunch at Salvation Army, 11:15 am -12:15 pm, tomorrow, October 14. Upon arrival, Rotarians may join the group setting up to serve outside. If no one is there, volunteers should check in with the receptionist just inside the door of the building. Rotarians and guests are invited to join us in person for small group meetings this Thursday in the Magnolia Room at Centerstone Plaza Hotel and community hall at Trinity Lutheran Church. Our program will be "Boys & Girls Club of Rochester" presented virtually by Chief Executive Officer Chad Campbell. Those who plan to attend in person are are asked to register in advance online here due to the limited capacity at each location. Attendees are also invited to gather at 11:30 for lunch and social time, taking your own lunch to either location or ordering ahead from Twigs Tavern & Grille for carry-out to the Magnolia Room at Centerstone (288-0206/https://www.foodbooking.com/ordering/restaurant/menu?restaurant_uid=1997fcfa-cbb6-430c-b752-d9d8ee31cf4b&client_is_mobile=true&glfa_cid=1786929435.1588861938&glfa). 

 

Although we have encountered technical difficulties the last two meetings, the club is doing its best to solve the issues and make the meeting experience available via Zoom for those who prefer not to attend in person. When a meeting is recorded without issues, it will also be shared on The Rotary Club of Rochester Facebook page and the Rotary Club of Rochester YouTube Channel after the event.

 

 An email with the Zoom invitation and link will be sent on Thursday morning to all TRCR members and friends of Rotary currently on our email address list. We hope you'll make plans to join us!

Our World Polio Day 2020 event will be held virtually this year. To mark the progress we have made toward the eradication of polio, Rotary’s significant involvement, and to encourage giving to PolioPlus, the Rotary clubs of Rochester will be publishing information about polio on Facebook all through the month of October. To kick things off, Mayor Kim Norton has issued a proclamation declaring October 24 World Polio Day in Rochester! We are also encouraging Rotarians to change their Facebook profile picture to the official Rotary International “I want to end polio” frame. You can find this frame by searching for “Rotary I want to end polio” on the frames. Alternatively (or concurrently), you can change your profile picture to a “this close” picture with your thumb and forefinger.

The Rotary Club of Rochester is collecting cases of bottled water for distribution to community members at the Rochester Salvation Army Drop-in Day Center. The next collection will take place  October 8, 11 am - 1 pm during our Midday Meeting at Rochester Golf & Country Club in the lobby outside the meeting space.

Scrip cards to Apollo Liquor, Kwik Trip, and Menards are still available for purchase to support The Rotary Club of Rochester. Remember, you purchase and spend the cards at face value, and the club receives 5% back from Apollo Liquor and Kwik Trip, and 4% back from Menards. The club gets an additional 5% on purchases at Kwik Trip, other than gas, inside the store. 

 

If you would like to make a scrip purchase, please email the Rotary office with your request. Apollo is sold in $10 increments, and no change is given in store. Kwik Trip may be purchased in increments of $5 up to $25, increments of $25 up to $100, and then $200, $250, and $500. Credit remains on the card until the full value is spent. Menards cards may be purchased in any denomination between $10 and $2000 with the credit remaining on the card, as well. Apollo and Kwik Trip cards will be delivered within a few days, and Menards cards may take up to two weeks. Scrip cards make especially great gifts for celebrations, including birthdays and graduations!
