In February 2017, the Rotary clubs of Rochester held the first ethics workshop and determined with such positive feedback that we would hold another workshop in 2018. We gathered information on what we could improve from our 2017 and 2018 students and table leaders and have an improved curriculum in 2019. We will have a keynote speaker from the University of St. Thomas asking the question, Are we really as good as we think we are? We will also share case studies and a panel presentation with local panelists discussing ethical dilemmas at work, as well as some work time for the students to discuss the most pressing ethical issues facing high school students today.
Five Rochester high schools will be sending 35 students to our Ethics Workshop. We are excited to work with these students and share more about the Four Way Test and how it can be used as a tool and premise for life-long skills in decision making for ethical issues.
Those of us involved in the Ethics Workshop believe this is a very good way to introduce Rotary to our young people in a relevant way that can impact their lives in a lasting way.
