Qualifications for Membership
According to the Rotary International Constitution: a club shall be composed of active members each of whom shall be an adult person of good character and good business, professional and/or community reputation and engaged as a proprietor, partner, corporate officer, or manager of any worthy and recognized business or profession or any branch or agency thereof and have executive capacity with discretionary authority. Each club shall have a well-balanced membership in which no one business or profession predominates.

Financial Obligations

  • An entrance fee of $250 is due when submitting an application for membership. This is a one-time charge and is not applicable to transferring or former members in good standing of another Rotary club.
  • Annual dues of $490 and at least a $100 donation to the Service Fund each year in accordance with the bylaws of the club.
    • Due are payable each June for the period of July 1 to June 30.
    • Dues include member's annual subscription to the Rotarian magazine, applicable Rotary International and District per capita assessments, and cover the costs of club operations.
    • Our Service Fund supports our committee work—our club does not have an annual fundraiser for these projects. Because of this donation, you will not be asked to sell raffle tickets, provide auction items, etc.
  • Additional Donations
    • Although not required, Rotarians are asked to support The Rotary Foundation's Paul Harris donation program (Every Rotarian Every Year) and PolioPlus. And as a member of the Rotary Club of Omaha, you will be asked to support the Downtown Omaha Rotary Foundation. Suggested donations are shown on your dues statement and a complete explanation of these donations is included in your member packet when you join.
    • Sponsorship opportunities are also available for all members. Annual opportunities include our printed member roster, Rotary Honor Roll Luncheon, and others as announced.
  • Lunch Costs
    • Currently, a member's lunch cost at our weekly meeting is $18 for a full buffet. There is a $2 cost for members to attend and just have coffee or iced tea ("no-lunch option"). A guests' lunch price is $20 or $4 for no lunch. There is a $1 fee for paying with credit card.
Expectations of Members

  • Rotarians are expected to regularly attend Rotary meetings and maintain a minimum of 50% attendance. Attendance credit is given for attending a regular meeting (local, worldwide or via an e-club), committee meeting, Rotary publicized social event or service project, and District or International meetings.
  • Rotarians are expected to participate actively in the club and to serve on at least one of the committees involved in special community and international projects and regularly serve on club service committees. This is the best way to get to know other members and strengthen our connection to one another.
  • Generally participate in and support the activities of the club and Rotary whenever possible with both time and treasure.

  • New members will receive a Red Badge when they are introduced to the club. All members are asked to 'earn' their permanent badge by participating in a new member orientation and completing certain aspects of club service. More information is given during the orientation.
