MEETING UPDATE

The Rotary Club of Omaha is currently meeting virtually via Zoom.
Check this website and watch your emails for updates and announcements.

President's Pen

Congratulations and welcome to new members Mitch Treu and Teddy Murphy! They join Jim Hauschildt and Cliff McEvoy and seven new prospective members since July 1, 2020. And Membership Leader Phil Taylor and team have prospective members in a landing pattern that looks like Southwest Airlines at Eppley (pre-pandemic). It’s going to be an exciting year for Downtown Rotary!  I cede the balance of my comments to Phil this week. Looking forward to hearing from Mary Fraser Meints (Y.E.S.) on Wednesday.
~ John Sullivan

Member picture

Our membership goal is 125 members by June 30, 2021!

Our membership committee is active and engaged (and we need your help!) with several new initiatives aimed at attracting new and retaining existing Downtown Omaha Rotary members. The following activity is underway:

  • Survey sent to Rotary members who declined to renew over the last 2 years.  That survey will now be sent to all members who decline to renew in the future.  Plan is to compile data, look for key takeaways to help improve retention, make report/recommendation to the board.
  • Bring a Guest to Rotary and win lunch/dinner on the membership cmte.
    • Drawings held for 16 weeks starting October 7th
    • Bring a guest, name entered into hat for $25 gift card drawing
    • Still 5 gift cards to give away, so invite those guests!
  • South Omaha Initiative & New Member Campaign/Initiative
    • $250 membership initiation fee waived
    • Full club membership once your application has been submitted and approved
    • New Members won’t receive an invoice until April/May, just before our next Rotary year begins (7/1/21)
    • That initial invoice will be for the amount of $222.50 and will cover new members’ first full year (7/1/21-6/30/22) in our club- that’s 50% off our regular annual membership dues.
  • What Rotarians can do to help:
    • Invite guests to our meetings
    • Let Phil Taylor know of prospective members and the membership cmte. will reach out to invite them to a meeting and send them membership info.
  • How membership cmte engages prospective members
    • Email sent to all Rotary meetings guests thanking them for attending, inviting them to join our club, letting them know about our current new members promotions, include a membership application.
    • Unless instructed otherwise, we reach back out in a week or two to ask if they have any questions, would like to join us for another meeting, etc.
  • Looking now for one of our talented Rotarians to lead our marketing cmte. in the ‘21/’22 Rotary year.  Let Phil Taylor know if you have a name he should consider.
