What a Way to Transition!

The Changing of the Guard event was everything and more. What a wonderful opportunity to say THANK YOU to the past leadership and WELCOME to the new administration!

From taking the Oath, to the cake and champagne, it was the perfect way to honor the past and celebrate the future. I would like to thank the new board members and officers for their ongoing commitment to ensure our club continues to be one of (if not) the best rotary clubs in Omaha.

I also want to thank John Sullivan for all of his leadership this past year. Even though a pandemic, he managed to keep us focused, on task, and often entertained, and for that, we are forever grateful. Our outgoing president and his administration are the best!

So what will this upcoming year hold …..

As president, I have adopted the theme of INCLUSIVITY! It is my goal to make this a club where all feel welcomed, and all are recognized for their perspectives and backgrounds but also to celebrate our differences to learn more about each other, our community and have fun doing it. You will see this theme as the year goes on, and I invite you to share any ideas you have as well.

At next week's meeting, your new administration will be sharing their plans for next year. I look forward to seeing you all online or in person. As we begin our new year and continue our transition, think about the 4-way test –

  • Is it the truth?
  • Is it fair to all concerned?
  • Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
  • Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

Changing of the Guard
President-John Sullivan peacefully handed power to Incoming President Aileen Warren

Inspirational speaker Nash Mahupete, our very own Secretary

Former Secretary of State Allen Beerman presided over the new tradition of Rotary Officers and Directors taking their Oath of Rotary service. Inducted to office were: President Aileen Warren, President-Elect Sean Connolly, President-Elect Designate Lindy Hoyer, Immediate Past President John Sullivan, Secretary Lisa Tonjes Moritz, Treasurer James Stewart, Board of Directors: Dan Ertz, Dawn Gonzales, Jeff Matuella, Shane Sullivan, Brett Frevert, Shayne Fili, Larry Guenther, Gretchen Harvey, Bev Carlson, Bob Keefer, Sandy Lempke, and Adam Leong.

President John Sullivan recognized PDG Gary Bren for his service as Club Foundation President and Paul Cohen for his service as Club Foundation Secretary/Treasurer. Paul, a retired Brigadier General at the Air National Guard, got a surprise greeting from Major General Roger Lempke who joined live from Lincoln.

Here's the annual Past Presidents photo. The group gladly welcomed Immediate Past President John Sullivan. Pictured L to R: Todd Murphy, Bill Harvey, Gary Bren, Paul Cohen, Tom Gouttierre, Gary Perkins, Sean Olson, Tim Schmad, Tim Cavanaugh, Brad Burklund, John Sullivan, Lloyd Gnirk, John Ewing. Seated L to R: Camille Metoyer-Moten, Cella Quinn, Steve McCollister, John Mock, Jim Murphy, and Jim Suttle. The group that paid for the champagne for everyone. Such a nice group of dedicated Rotarians!

President Aileen Warren was pleasantly surprised to see her husband Thomas Warren showed up at Rotary. In this picture, Aileen's close associates at work Linda Cunningham, Jayme Nekuda, and her assistant Michelle Coe all showed up to show their support and congratulations to the newly-installed President Warren.

Newly-installed President Aileen Warren delivered her remarks, led the recitation of the 4-Way Test, received her customized gavel, and adjourned the meeting.

Finally, Immediate Past President John Sullivan was able to eat his lunch with his "loyalists" Jesse Moore, PP Cella Quinn, and Yolanda Hoffman
