March 25, 2022. Rotarians at the Omaha Downtown Rotary led by President Aileen Warren and Past Presidents Bill Harvey and Todd Murphy led in celebrating Past President Jim Murphy's half a century of service to Rotary. Jim Murphy served as President of Rotary. Jim served as a Brigadier General with the Nebraska Army National Guard from 1988 to 1994. During his 36 years with the military, he served as Assistant Adjutant General for the state of Nebraska as well as Commandant of Camp Ashland for 10 years, directing all training of over 5,000 troops. Following this assignment, he was promoted to the rank of General and commanded all Army Guard troops in Nebraska. Along with Jim's love for his country is his love for Rotary as evidenced by his 50 years of service. He passed on his love for Rotary to his son Todd Murphy, who also served as President of Rotary. Todd Murphy is continuing the Murphy legacy by recruiting his son Ted Murphy to Rotary. Indeed the Murphys rightfully earned the distinction of Omaha Downtown Rotary's royalty. Jim, Todd, and Ted are three generations of Rotarians who are currently active members of the Omaha Downtown Rotary. Until proven otherwise, the Murphys are the only Rotarians, if not one of the very few Rotarians in the world, who are three generations currently active in one Rotary club. Congratulations to Jim Murphy!
