Last Wednesday was a great day at Rotary, sorry if you missed it. Bill Harvey showed us his Ninja tech skills running the power point and also handling our official election for our new slate of officers coming in for next year. Thank you Bill - Great Job!
We got our latest Business Minute from Charlie Peters telling us about his Real Estate business and a great non-profit building project he is working on in downtown. He didn't even come close to the 2 minute limit and saved his table some coin. We want Rotary to be a great place to network as well as doing great service for our world. If anyone is interested in doing a 2 minute infomercial for your business let Spencer know.
Great presentation from Mark Hasebrooke at Dundee Venture Capital talking about the world of seed investing in the tech world. Mark has founded and sold a couple of companies and recognized early on the difficulty start-ups have in being able to raise capital right here at home because we are behind the curve of funding innovation in this high tech space. Their group looks at 150 to 200 ideas per month and works to select the right idea and the right fit to partner up with. As in most things he feels the most important component is the people in any new venture to see the idea through all the tough growing pains. Thank you Cella for another great program at the cutting edge of the Omaha community.

Jay Lund with GreenSlate Development will talk about the history and resurrection of the Blackstone Hotel as it undergoes a complete renovation. He will also describe the re-development of the Blackstone District.
The Blackstone District has seen much revitalization in recent years, both inside and out. This classic Omaha location caters to individuals from all walks of life but is especially appealing to those who have a great appreciation for the history and integrity of one of the city's oldest and coolest neighborhoods. The Blackstone District now showcases contemporary dining, nightlife, shopping and living experiences as diverse as the area itself.

This event is all about bringing communities together and promoting healthy neighborhoods. Months before the event, our staff meets and surveys the existing neighbors in the areas we serve. With your help, we will assist these folks with a variety of tasks, which usually include light repair, clean-up, sanding, painting, staining, and landscaping. At the end of the day, the neighborhood shines a little brighter and new relationships are made. New in 2019 – Rock the block days will end with a small block celebration! Partners are needed to provide food, entertainment, and cleanup assistance. This event allows us to serve more families outside of our core programs. It also allows us greater flexibility with group size and volunteer ages.
Tools and supplies are supplied by Habitat. Volunteers just need to wear closed toed shoes or boots
We will need a total of 10 volunteers with each volunteer needing to sign up with the below link at least 2 weeks prior to May 18th.
This will be a fresh and exciting weekend with inspirational, informative speakers and family events.
Bring your family! Plan to come early or stay late. Nebraska City Rotarians are working hard to put together deals and discounts for family in their community.
