President's Pen
The first Pen!
I am very honored and excited to start my year as president of the club.  Thank you everyone for making the first meeting a success, and especially John Marburger for helping us work through some tricky technical difficulties.  Thank you to Bill Harvey for his great leadership through this last year and his cyber hand off of duties.  (Bill I think it is customary to wait until after your term is done to start your vacation. Lol)

As I stated yesterday I really want this year to be about Engagement, doing some great work and having some Fun!  I am very thankful for all the committee chairs that have volunteered to help this year and look forward to working with you to accomplish great things.

I issued an Engagement challenge to all members yesterday and I would like to see everyone "lean in" to engage more and and work to accomplish the challenge.  The challenge is to "Commit to greet Opportunities"

Commit           Join and work on t least 2 committees
work on at least 2 service projects and attend at least 2 socials.
Greet                At least 3 times this year either greet or do the invocation at the meeting
(We are going to do this differently by having a sign up sheet on the
registration table each week where you can sign up for the next 3 months. - Please sign up)
We will send you a reminder for when you are signed up to make it super Easy.
Opportunities     Work to bring a guest at least 2 times during the year.

We heard from Cella about the great line up of programs we have coming, and we encourage you to bring guests to hear the great speakers.  We heard from Susan about the revised program we have to reach out to our guests and speakers to offer membership opportunities.  We heard from Tim about one of the awesome key note projects we have to work on, and to have a chance to serve and give back.

I think the best days of our Rotary club are out in front of us and I am looking forward to all we can accomplish and the relationships we can build over the next year.

Thank you for your service, Lets make it happen!

President

Good News:
Roger gave us a weather forecast that there was no prediction of snow for today.  Very intuitive Roger, although as hot as it is some snow might feel pretty good.

Suzi was coerced into announcing her engagement.  We are very happy for you Suzi, although we did not like the sound of you saying you may have to leave to live somewhere else.  Unacceptable.

2. THIS LOCATION FULL Biomechanics Research Building at UNO

Biomechanics is the study of the forces that act on a body and the effects they produce. It is an intersection of biology, physiology, anatomy, physics, mathematics, and chemistry to solve difficult problems in medicine and health.

The Biomechanics Research Building (Figure 1) is located on the campus of the University of Nebraska at Omaha. The two-story building that opened its doors in September of 2013, boasts 23,000 square feet of laboratory, office and collaboration space. The building features six laboratories, a patient evaluation room, changing rooms, a machine shop, a laundry/washroom, two conference rooms, a data processing room, a library, numerous faculty offices and student workstations. The Biomechanics Research Building is the only facility in the world fully dedicated to research in biomechanics. Recently, Nebraska University board of regents approved a 28,000 square feet addition to the Biomechanics Research Building doubling the size of our existing facilities. Construction is scheduled to start May 2018.

3. Presbyterian Church of the Master  "It ain't just about Sundays!"

Visit Presbyterian Church of the Master and experience two things that are about more than just Sunday:

- How an architectural vision can solve a number of problems at once. The Church just completed a $2 million renovation program and Bob Keefer can tell you about it more than you want to know (but promises to restrain himself).

- How a religious organization seeks its place within a community and offers its service in a variety of ways, only some of which happen on Sundays.
