It was my honor to fill in this week for Club President Brad Burklund, who is in Phoenix working through some health issues with his father. Please be sure to keep Brad and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
Also, thoughts and prayers go out to Rotarian and Past Club President Harry Koch who is recovering from a recent fall.
Thanks to Nancy Hinz, Executive Director of the Nebraska Humane Society for her excellent presentation on all of the good work they are doing in our community. And special thanks to her special guest, her adopted dog Sequoia, who really stole the show. My wife, Rotarian Gretchen Harvey, and I love our Nebraska Humane Society veteran, Chauncey the Wonder Dog, and I know that many of you have your own NHS stories. It is hard to imagine our community without this wonderful organization.
Thanks and congratulations go out to all of our new Paul Harris fellows and those who have achieved new Paul Harris levels. Every Paul Harris Level represents an additional $1,000 contribution to the Foundation. The tremendous generosity of the donors recognized today, and all those who give to the Rotary Foundation cannot be overstated. We can all be proud of the support our Club members have given to the Rotary Foundation over the years. If you have not yet had the opportunity to give at least $25 (and hopefully more) to the Rotary Foundation yet this Rotary year, it’s not too late! Remember that President Brad wants us to get to 100% of our membership making a contribution, so be sure to do your part and make your donation today!
Lots of good news today at the meeting, but a special shout out to Shane Sullivan who is trying his hand at improv! Be sure to catch Shane at the Backline Comedy Theatre, 1618 Harney St., Thursday, January 24. Doors open at 7:30, show starts 8:00. Congratulations Shane!
See you next week!
