Recently. Hal Daub introduced returning Rotarian Fletcher Reel. The Reel family arrived in the Omaha area in 1852 to take up the abolitionist cause. They were farmers and millers, and sacrificed dearly for the Union cause. Fletcher was raised on the original family homestead with all the traditions and obligations of a patriotic pioneer family.
Following college at the University of Iowa, Fletcher served as an infantry officer with the 82nd Airborne Division, where he was a sometimes roommate and close personal friend of another young second lieutenant named Stan McChrystal, who would one day become a four-star general and commander of all international security forces in Afghanistan.

Before leaving the military, Fletcher would go on to become a member of the Honor Guard of Arlington National Cemetery. He briefly served on staff in the United States Senate before joining the national campaign staff of Ronald Reagan in his successful run for the presidency in 1980. From there, he was appointed Headquarters Spokesman for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration during the Space Shuttle Test Flight Program. Leaving the Administration in 1986, Fletcher joined retired Admiral Joseph Moorer at Jacksonville University to teach “Crisis Management” and pursue graduate degrees in both government and literature.
Returning to the Omaha area in 1990, he founded Reelsville Communications, which provided expertise in strategic communications worldwide. In 2002, he moved his family to Los Angeles to work in the film industry. Ten years later, he retired and again returned to the Omaha area. He is married to the beautiful former Omaha City Councilwoman, Colleen Brennan, and his sister Jill is a long-time area pediatrician. He has two sons who are graduates of the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and are both gainfully employed.
