Recently, President Larry Guenther introduced newest Rotarian Dakotah Smith. Dakotah Smith is a commercial real estate broker with Lee & Associates, helping investors and businesses buy, sell, and lease properties. He also raises capital for passive real estate investments through his firm OSmith Capital. Prior to moving to Nebraska in 2015, Dakotah spent 7 years in Washington DC as a lobbyist for Bayer Corp, working on a wide range of legislative policies. His greatest achievement on Capitol Hill was meeting his future wife Mary, an Omaha native.
Dakotah serves as a Douglas County Planning Commissioner and volunteers as a firefighter/EMT with Waterloo Fire Dept. He is an adjunct instructor of real estate courses at UNO and serves on several non-profit boards. He and Mary are owners of West O Fitness, a local gym with two locations that Mary operates.
Raised in Austin, Texas, Dakotah earned his bachelor’s from The University of Texas at Austin and his master’s from The George Washington University.
Dakotah and Mary are the proud parents of two young daughters, aged 5 & 4.
