Rotarians,
It was good to see so many of you (and your guest) at the recent Business Networking Meeting at the Revive Center. The event was truly informative and well attended.
The meeting began with Willie Barney, Founder, President, and Facilitator of the Empowerment Network, providing an update on all of the development taking place in the 24th and Lake Area. Eric Ewing, Executive Director of the Great Plains Black Museum, then provided the attendees, with great insight into the history of the area and also shared information on the Great Plains Black Museum. Terri TD Sanders, Publisher of the Omaha Star (and Rotarian club member), wrapped up the presentation portion of the meeting by giving an overview of the Omaha Star Newspaper – past, present, and future. The meeting concluded with a tour of the historic Carver Bank Building, The Omaha Star , the Great Plains Black Museum, and finally the Fair Deal Marketplace. Special thanks to Deb Skinner and Camille Metoyer -Moten who planned this wonderful event.
Just a reminder! The 8th Grade Honor Roll event will be held on May 11th over the lunch hour. We have collected $2,500 dollars so far and could use your help to cover reminding $7,000 worth of expenses. Thanks to Hal Daub, Bill Harvey, Aileen Warren, and Dawn Gonzales who donated thus far. We will be collecting funds at our next meeting and hope Rotarians will provide financial support for this long standing and worthwhile event.
See you on Wednesday!
