Rick Witmer is the Rev. John P. Schlegel, SJ, Distinguished Professor of Government and Politics in the Department of Political Science at Creighton University, Omaha, Nebraska.   His teaching interests include American government and public policy, as well as Indigenous political participation, policy, and politics.   

He is co-author of Forced Federalism: Contemporary Challenges to Indigenous Nationhood and co-editor of The Cuba-US Bilateral Relations.  He currently serves as the Chair of the Indigenous Studies Network at the American Political Science Association. Dr. Witmer has worked on numerous political campaigns in his native state of Pennsylvania and has consulted with candidates in Arizona, Colorado, and Nebraska.  He is currently teaching the course Campaigns and Elections.
