Study on mental health in Douglas County


 Douglas County Commissioner James Cavanaugh J.D. is a fifth generation Omahan, graduate of Creighton University Law School, founder of the Cavanaugh Law Firm P.C. ,L.L.O. the oldest and largest Social Security Disability law firm in Nebraska and Principal of Cavanaugh and Associates a consulting and grant writing firm . Since 2015 Jim has served on the Douglas County Board, is chair of the Health and Human Services Committee and is a Trustee of the Douglas County Health Center and the Community Mental Health Center.

Jim is working on the pandemic recovery efforts of Douglas County which have assisted thousands of COVID impacted individuals, non profits and local small businesses . His current focus is on addressing our community mental health needs and helping small business' recover from the effects of the pandemic.

Jim will discuss two American Recovery Plan Act initiative proposals ; a Public Health Corridor on 42nd Street to provide needed mental health services to our community, and a restaurant assistance grant program to help locally owned restaurants deal with the economic impact of the COVID pandemic. Utilizing prudent public financing Jim has a proven record of providing improved public services with no tax increase.

 Jim believes that working together we can do better.
