Last week we had Eden Prairie High School Economics teacher Mark "Van Gogh" Anderson as our speaker. He spoke to us about his career and how he got to where he is today. Even in high school, he knew he wanted to be a teacher. After graduating from Concordia college with a business degree, he decided to go into the lucrative field of banking. After a few years of this, he realized he could do something more positive with his skills and switched into the not so lucrative field of teaching. His first teaching job was at St. Louis Park, and in 2004, he moved to Eden Prairie to teach Business, Marketing, and AP Microeconomics. As a banker, part of his job was to dress professionally. When he became a teacher, this didn't change. At Eden Prairie High School, he became known as the fantastic teacher who always wears a suit.
