Welcome to the 10th edition of the RCKC Passion Magazine.
Wow April Was amazing. The club Scooped 6 awards at the D9213 100th District Conference and Assembly in Jinja held.
The 28 members who attended collected the following Six awards from the stage; Winner-Club Governance Award; 1st Runner Up- Youth Mentorship & Engagement Award; 2nd Runner Up- member participation & Engagement Award; 2nd runner up-The Rotary Foundation Award (Large); 2nd Runner Up- Major Gifts Award.
This brought to 9 the awards the club has won in the Rotary Year 2024/2025. The extra 3 being the Women in Rotary Awards. One was the Leadership Award Won by Yours Truly, Male Champion runner up Rtn. John Tumusiime and the Club was also runner up winner for Community Empowerment award for its tree planting, waste traps, global grants and skilling Luzira women inmates to learn how to make liquid soap for hygiene and as a source of income.
On 16th April We had a talk from The Remnant Generation who we have supported since around 2020 to support the Home they set up to Rescue and Restore teenage girls impregnated at a young age and rejected by their families. TRG is working to create sustainable programs for these girls in the areas of training and agriculture so that they can fend for themselves while at the facility and when they leave. They are seeking the support of partners like Rotary to do this and we hope as a club we can support and get a Global Grant approved to support them.
On 23rd April our very own Rtn. Patrick Ocailap gave us a rich enlightening talk on Understanding Strategies for Growing the Economy by Tenfold by 2024. It was indeed insightful.
The Club also gave birth to The Interact Club of Acorn International School Chartered on Thursday 24th April. The club has 15 members and they have committed to be active and serve humanity.
As we look ahead at the month of May, the Past Presidents Council will be having their quarterly meeting on 3rd May, 8th May we shall be inducting new members, pinning about 6 PHFs one being a new PHF and the rest adding pins, 10th May we shall have a Club Retreat to review the 2526 plan and have fun afterwards, a dedicated fellowship will be given to The Rotary Fellowship for Fitness & Wellness Group led by our very own coach Bob and we shall also have a very enlightening fellowship to learn about investing in Securities, Equities and property and why we should not invest in which depending on age 😊. Rotarians Rotaractors and Guests should not miss this one.
In June we have the Hand over of the 32nd President to the 33rd President Mark Rubarenzya on Wednesday 4th June 2025 at Hotel Africana at 6pm. You are all welcome there is no Tax.
