This past month has been a testament to the spirit of giving!

Dear Fellow Rotarians,
As we reflect upon the month of November which in the Rotary Calendar is The Rotary Foundation Month, I am filled with a deep sense of pride and gratitude for the extraordinary dedication and generosity demonstrated by our Rotary family around the world.This past month has been a testament to the spirit of giving, the incredible work of the Rotary Foundation, and the joy of receiving the heartfelt appreciation from those whose lives we have touched.
We as a club were hosted to a Home Hospitality by Rtn. Dorothy Nseka and her Husband at their lovely home. Thank you to all the members who made it and especially to family of Rotary for making it happen. Some gifts were exchanged with the respective Friends of the Year.
The Club was privileged to get an appreciation award for participating in the Cheza Na Afrigo for Impact Concert fundraiser organized by RC Kampala Ssese. A club member was generous enough to have offered a table to members to attend the event.
November saw our club’s continued commitment to the execution of the Global Grant funds received from Rotary Foundation and international partners for two Maternal and Child Health grants that is GG2240454 in 7 Districts at 78 Health centers with the delivery of training and various equipment for saving mothers and infants and GG2343311 at Kyengera women’s Hospital 28 Various items including Theatre bed, oeprating lights, Anaesthesia machine, oxygen concebrator, Incubation Set-Larungoscopes, Patient Trolley etc, whose mission to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace is at the heart of our efforts.
In receiving, we have been blessed with the gratitude and joy from those we serve. The smiles and hopes of the mothers, infants, medical staff and the relief of families who have received essential supplies, can now envision a brighter future—all these moments remind us of the profound difference we are making. Receiving their heartfelt appreciation is a powerful affirmation of our mission and fuels our passion to continue our work.
We have steadfastly supported D9213 with the Districts 2025 bid for the Program of Scale which we were excited and delighted to hear RI has selected D9213 as finalist for the Grant focusing on Maternal and Child Health (MCH).
To strengthen the Districts application all Magical Presidents were sent an email by DG Anne requesting clubs for letters of support to the MCH Programs of Scale Grant Application for Application for 2025 entitled “Empowering Families, Growing Futures: Improving Maternal & Infant Care in East Africa”. All clubs are to discuss and agree to participate and make a financial commitment per year for three years there is a specific template to be signed by the President and the President Elect and submitted to ugrotarymchpos@gmail.com by 30th November 2024. A rapid assessment template has also been shared which is to indicate the health center’s gap analysis to inform the submission. Please clubs in your cohorts complete the requirements.As a club we are earnestly pursuing other grant applications and we pray and hope we can get the international partners and initial financial commitments required.
The Club continued with its “Plant your balance” campaign with the commencement of planting of 3500 trees at Makerere University in November. This brings our tree planting tally to well ahead of out District Target of 5800. We have been blessed and received tree seedlings from Roofings as well as The ABSA My Tree Initiative with District 9213 and encourage other clubs to access these free seedlings. We continue to have a challenges with the funds for preparation for preparing the planting areas, logistics and maintenance of these trees with protection and other requirements for the trees to grow. So we call upon your donations and partnerships for this formidable initiatives.
As we look back on November, let us carry forward the spirit of giving into the months ahead. Let us continue to support the Rotary Foundation and embrace every opportunity to make a positive impact. Together, we can transform lives, uplift communities, and create a world where hope and opportunity are within reach for all. It is through our collective giving that we are able to turn aspirations into reality and create lasting change.Your selfless dedication and compassionate spirit have inspired others and strengthened the bonds of our Rotary family. Don’t be the odd man out be an active Rotarian and Serve. Did you give in November? Have you wondered why your receiving cup is dry? It is because you are not Giving.
