Welcome to the 9th edition of the RCKC Passion Magazine.
In March the club continued to grow and enhance its Member engagement by encouraging members to support with the mobilization for the run, focusing on talks to grow awareness about club programs and promoting the public image of Rotary.
The Month kicked off with the club scooping Three (3) Awards at the Women in Rotary Awards. One was the Leadership Award Won by Yours Truly, Male Champion runner up Rtn. John Tumusiime and the Club was also runner up winner for Community Empowerment award for its tree planting, waste traps, global grants and skilling Luzira women inmates to learn how to make liquid soap for hygiene and as a source of income.
PDG John Ndamira gave a talk to the club about the MCH Program of Scale to which the club is leading a Cohort. Approximately 45,000 newborns die each year in Uganda. The First 24 hours and first 6 days are very critical for new-borns. The Program is meant to provide much needed training and equipment to reduce child and mother related deaths that can be avoided. This program will start in July. Our Cohort has the following Rotary Clubs Kampala Springs, Kampala Day Break, Buloba, Butabika, Kampala 7 Hills, E Ntinda, Kampala Early Bird, Tororo, then Rotaract Clubs ROCK and Clarks International. There are a total of 16 Cohorts around Uganda and almost 100 Health Centers.
With Every Rotarian Every Year (EREY) we moved from 20% to 90% following an engaging talk by our Honorary member PDG Ken Mugisha we were able to hit our Polio Plus target of $2000 and our Annual Fund target of 48$ and are currently at $51,000. One key message most members of this club will tell you is that They Give not for Gratification but because of how their Contribution will Impact the Lives of so many in different parts of the world.
We were also able to perform a Medical Camp at Good Hope Primary School in Lukwanga in Conjunction with Healingway Hospital Bugolobi and Wakiso health Center 4. Some of the services rendered included General Checks ups, Lab Services, Dental, Antenatal, HIV testing and counseling. One key lesson was that we need to mobilize support to have more of these badly needed community services.
Run for the Nile, What can I say? IT WAS BIGGER. The support from the sponsors, club members (almost 80% participation in different ways. THANK YOU), Rotary Clubs from D9213 and D9214, Ambassadors, Rotaractors, Schools we are so grateful for the support. The funds raised will be used to make
We also celebrate the following Rotarians who have completed courses at the Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) in the Month of March Rtn Robert Ssebugwawo (Coach Bob), Rtn. Nathan Kamba, Rtn. Dorothy Mwesigwa and Rtn. Ben Kibumba
Our very own Coach Bob also launched The Rotary Fellowship For Fitness and Wellness (In Formation) engagements with an online meeting and additional awareness’s and events are lined up to give birth to this new Health Fellowship. We are all behind him to support this good initiative for the District
