Greetings Friends in Service,
Hope like me you have found fulfilment in the service you have rendered in the month of February especially to our communities. Check yourself and be truthful to yourself, were you a bystander, just letting life pass you by and not Giving either a helping hand, mentoring or supporting?
In the month we had the 20 RYLA youth that were sponsored by the club come and share their experiences and this motivated us to in future, continue supporting youth to attend these events. Our Rotaractor Nashu from ROCK also gave a talk on Conflict resolution. It being the month of Love we had a very engaging fellowship where members were given 2 minutes to talk about random topics. This is one fellowship that could have easily run for 2 hours. The session on Personal Goals was also a light bulb moment especially the need to create pit stop moments to review how one was progressing and having accountability partners.
We established that we have to date planted 10,670 trees surpassing our Plant Your Balance Target of 6,800 (100 years minus 32 years age of club=68 times 100 years=6,800). Once the rains start, we shall start our additional quota of 2500 from the D9213 initiative with ABSA and My Tree initiative.At a number of Clubs we also undertook activations for Run for the Nile scheduled for Saturday 22nd March in Jinja. I would like to appreciate the following clubs where we had activations for the support thus far and look forward to seeing them in Jinja; Rotary Club Mengo, Kampala Kibuli, Entebbe Base, Natete Kampala, Kampala, Bugolobi Morning Tide, Manyangwa Nakwero, Acacia Sunset, Arua, Kampala Munyonyo, Kololo Kampala.
This run is to save the environment. The funds will be used to raise seedlings and also support a waste management initiative preventing plastics from entering lake Victoria using plastic traps. All Rotary Clubs in Uganda stand to benefit from the seedlings that will be available for them to pick and plant at their locations.
It was also a month in which we planned for the future. We brought on board a new Health Partner Healingway Hospital who have just relocated from Kololo to Bugolobi having taken over Paragon Hospital. They will be supporting us with our medical camps in Lukwanga and the club will be looking out for more of these strategic partnerships.
In the month of March, we shall be increasing our efforts to ensure every member gives the minimum to the Rotary Foundation. This is because Giving benefits someone out there in need even if we don’t ever meet them. We as a club will also be preparing for the 100th DISCON in Jinja from 9th April to 13th April. 24 members have fully paid and around 6 have registered.
Our handover and installation to the 33rd President is also set for Wednesday 4th June 2025 at Hotel Africana and plans are in high gear as the current board is saving all the handover files in Club Runner.
